Photography and Self-Discovery
Well, I learned today that it's really hard to get a clear photo of a fish (or a SHARK) when it's moving right toward you! I have also learned, from touring the art museum, that I really like people better than landscapes and flowers and such. I like pictures that seem to tell a story. This is good self-discovery that I will try to apply to my future photography! I did, however, enjoy the abstract, as well. This may have a connection to my love of architecture in photography.

Photographing City Lights at Night
This evening we drove to downtown Cincinnati, OH. It was still daylight when we arrived. I took photos of the Purple People Bridge, a statue of the man for whom the city was named, and several other random photos. Then we went to a Bar-B-Q restaurant on the Ohio River. It was beautiful and the food was excellent! As we sat there, dining, the sun began to set. I took a few twilight photos through the restaurant window. (not ideal, I know.)When we had finished eating and walked outside, the lights were absolutely beautiful as they reflected on the water.
It was at this point that I truly regretted not bringing my tripod! I try to pack light. But my "light" is "ridiculous" to the rest of my family. So, I left the tripod.
"I won't want to lug it around," I told myself. Now I am kicking myself in the tail. Blurry photos are NOT pretty!!!

Photography book bargains!
Today we are in Winston-Salem, N.C. My daughter and son-in-law took us to this little resale store. They only carry/buy/sell books, CD's and DVD's. It was WONDERFUL! I got three photography books that were downright new for about $30.00. I would have paid that much for only one of these books at Barnes and Noble or Books a Million. I am definitely looking forward to soaking these up as soon as possible.

Travel photos
Well, I hope everyone liked the photos I posted. If you want to see more of them, go to my Facebook page by clicking on my badge. Uploading photos to this blog is really slow. I found out you have to do them one at a time!!!
Well, I'm off again tomorrow. This time we are going on vacation, or "on holiday" as the europeans would put it. I'm hoping to find new treasures to photograph! I'll keep you posted as often as possible!

Event Photography - Bible Club
This week I have had the experience of photographing children at play! This included kids from 2 years old through 18 year olds. I just love to capture their smiles! I have arrived back home and hope to load those photos to the computer tomorrow!

Why hire a Photographer?
I am currently on a mission trip to Kansas. Our group of 14 arrived here at the Haskell University for Native Americans and wanted to get a group photo. Of course I brought my camera with me, so I pulled it out and my husband asked on of the men who were there to greet us if he would take the photo. (No tripod with me) So, I got everyone in formation for the photo, zoomed in just right and showed him where to stand and how to work the camera. He took two photos. BOTH were crooked! This is why you should never leave photography to your friend or your relative. A photo that you can never "re-do" will likely turn out badly, if it turns out at all.

Creating a New Photography Website!
Well, this week I have been working on creating a new photography website where I can show clients their pictures. The website says, "It's so easy! Just drag and drop and you're ready to go in minutes!" Well, let's see...How many minutes are there in about 10 hours???? They neglected to say there's no back button or undo button. They didn't say that after I've uploaded 50 photos they might just disappear! (Twice!) I have always said that Satan lives in my computer, but he was really showing out yesterday. I, however, played Victory in Jesus really loudly on the piano and prayed. Then, when I returned to the computer...guess what? God put those pictures back on there for me!!!! Ain't God good?
So, now I have a place to show my clients their photos. Hopefully, when my business increases, I'll put a shopping cart on there, too!

Getting Photos Ready - Work flow
Well, I've been really busy working on Mission Trip #1, to Lawrence, Kansas, but I've managed to work in some time to get an order ready from a wedding that I did. I still don't have a good work flow when it comes to processing my orders. Photoshop Elements doesn't seem to have a Batch Edit, or at least I haven't found it. I need to do some more reading up on it, but NO Time!
Oh well! I got the order ready to go and I know they are going to be pleased with the photos.

Event photography - 45th Wedding Anniversary
Today I had the opportunity to photograph a 45th Wedding anniversary celebration for the Hill family. Their daughter hosted a lovely party on the lush green lawn. They put up a tent, signs, balloons and beautiful flowers. There was a beautifully decorated table with a photo of the couple, a lovely cake, a wooden cross and gifts! I took photos of the couple, of course, and many posed family photos out on the picnic bench, as well as lots of candids.
When is last time your family got together for pictures? As the kids say....CALL ME!

Anniversary Photo Shoot
I am looking forward to taking photos at a 45th Anniversary celebration on Saturday! It's kind of like doing a family reunion. There will be group photos and candids and, as I understand, lots of FOOD! Sound like FUN!!!
